COASTAL GARDEN
In 2013, O2 Landscapes was approached by a returning client who wanted to convert an old ablution block from a pre-existing camp ground into a modest sized home. Following this, a key feature of the brief was to create an element of privacy from the public, whilst maintaining views towards the ocean. Coastal plants were chosen for both their resilience to coastal winds and salt spray, and for the low, bobbling form they take when grown in this harsh environment. A thin concrete nib wall was designed to create an element of separation between the client and the street, taking the place of a boundary fence. Andesite stone was hand worked to create a series of paths and stairs throughout the property.
