WAIPOA WETLAND
In mid 2016, O2 landscapes was contacted by the Waipoa trust and asked to design a 12 acre, mostly exotic wetland, with a focus on conservation and recreation. Located just west of Gisborne, the site is part of a larger forestry block, complete with its own natural springs and a man-made lake with a seasonally fluctuating water level of up to one metre.
The design of this project was centered around creating a wetland with seasonal colour that provided habitat for both native and exotic birds, included the placement and design of a simple multi-purpose pavilion, the development of a lookout bunker, and the design of a bike path.
Project Type: Private Wetland
Location: Waingake, Gisborne, NZ
Date: 2015 - Present
Team Members: Philip Smith, James Fischer
