WOODLAND GARDEN
The tranquil character of this Herne Bay home (designed by Stevens Lawson Architects) called for a garden design driven by a quiet, soothing aesthetic. The brief asked for a synthesis of New York loft and Tibetan monastery, resulting in a garden that reflects similar qualities, yet is also influenced by some of the more placid spaces encountered within New Zealand's own forested landscapes. This garden creates an environment that encourages contemplation and meditation, and has become a sanctuary from the busy, inner-city lifestyle.
